Today we started The Great Gatsby unit! We took notes (note taking sheet with essay prompts for your use) and then had some reading time. Homework is to read chapter 1. Please see The Great Gatsby Resources tab for help/support.
We worked on the partner assessment for our Turn of the Century Assessment (a photo journal, see slide 21). These must be submitted by Friday, 11/16 by 10pm on turnitin.com. Just one person in the pair needs to submit, and please use both last names as the submission title. Homework: read "Flapper Jane" for Monday. If you are planning on buying The Great Gatsby (we write an essay on this novel), please make sure you have it in class Monday.
Today we continued our Jim Crow analysis by reading Ida B. Wells Lynch Law in America (slides 5-6).
Today we started looking at Jim Crow Laws and lynching in America. We critically read a background essay and you discussed the essay with your table groups (slides 1-4).
Today we had a timed write around muckrakers (slides 16-18), then discussed the various readings and film from this week. No homework over the long weekend!
