Homework: please complete the Nativism and Anti-Immigration assignment by Monday (either print or hand write your responses please). Today we started our next unit: Turn of the Century America. We took notes on the cult of domesticity (slides 1-13), individually read "The Story of an Hour" by Kate Chopin (slides 14-17), then discussed the story as a table group.
Homework: Please also read "The Yellow Wallpaper" by Thursday. Today we introduced the integrated essay. We then worked on a partner Jim Crow Photo Journal (slides 31-33).
Homework: submit Jim Crow Photo Journal by 10pm tonight (turnitin.com). Please also read "The Yellow Wallpaper" by Thursday. Today we discussed the Jim Crow reading, then read Ida B. Wells "Lynch Laws in America" reading, and created a discussion question (slides 23-28).
You and your table group worked on a slavery/Reconstruction timeline (slides 21-22). The timeline is due Friday.
Homework: read the background on Jim Crow laws for Friday (just read, not critically read). Today we built on Mrs. Santos' Lincoln lesson by analyzing who actually freed the slaves. As a table group, you jigsawed two readings about who freed the slaves, and then wrote a group reflection paragraph (slides 19-20).
Today we analyzed the arguments and limitations of the pro and anti-slavery movement (slides 15-17), by using primary source documents. Anything not finished in class needs to be done for homework.
Today we worked on the slave narratives jigsaw (slides 12-14).
Today we took notes on slave narratives (slides 5-11), then started working on the slave narratives jigsaw (Jacobs or Douglass readings), and prep questions. These are due Thursday.
