Today I took the full block. You are going to work on quote analysis in order to help support your understanding of the novel and to prepare for the Socratic seminar. If you already did the quote analysis for chapter 1 as part of the supplemental work from two weeks ago, you can add it to today's work. You should pick one quote from chapter 1, 4, 7, and 13, and analyze the quote for:
You will submit the four quotes and the analysis to turntin.com by June 5th at 10pm. Today I took the full block period. You should read chapter 13 "Ambush". Please see slides 16-17 for the overview, and then answer the questions on slide 18 (please submit to turnitin.com by June 4th at 10pm...TTTC Chapter 13).
Next week will be the assessments for Vietnam and The Things They Carried. Each assessment will take place over 50 minutes (Vietnam on 6/8, The Things They Carried on 6/9). We will be having a Socratic seminar over Zoom as an integrated assessment for the unit. You will sign-up a time on Thursday in groups of 10-15. Please make sure you do not schedule work or other obligations during this time. You can pick any of the times listed. We are giving you Wednesday 6/10 to work on the prep questions (you will submit these questions to turnitin.com by 6/12 at 10pm). Mrs. Santos took the full block today. Please see her website for the details.
Mrs. Santos took the full 50 minute block Thursday and Friday. Please make sure you submit your The Things They Carried chapters 4 and 7 to turnitin.com by Friday.
As Mrs. Santos said last week: this week we want you to please remember to work at your own pace. Everything for the whole week is posted Monday mornings to allow for this. You can work ahead if you would like. You can also email Santos or Cossano if you need more time on something. Please let us know if anything we give you is taking significantly longer than expected. If we give you 50 minutes of work and it take you 90, we would like to know. If I give you 25 minutes of work and it's taking you 45, let me know. We are trying to be mindful and adjust when needed but we can't do that without communication from you. Thank you for all your hard work! I know online learning is challenging, and I appreciate all the work you are doing! Today I took the full 50 minutes of the block class. Today you should read chapter 7: How to Tell a True War Story. There is an overview of the chapter on slides 13-14, and then questions to answer on slide 15. I Remember that I want you to add the work from chapter 7 to the document where you answered chapter 4 questions, and submit everything to turnitin.com by Friday at 10pm (TTTC Chapters 4, 7).
Today I am taking the full 50 minutes of block. You will be reading chapter 4: On the Rainy River (slides 6-11 have some background information and questions to guide you reading...you do not have to answer the questions unless you want extra support). There are questions on slide 12 for you to answer. Please pick 2 questions out of the list to answer. Instead of submitting tonight, I want you to add the work from chapter 7 tomorrow to the document, and submit everything to turnitin.com by Friday at 10pm (TTTC Chapters 4, 7).
Today you will work on chapter 1 (slides 2-4 for an overview). Please make sure you answer the questions on slide 5 and submit them to turnitin.com by 10pm tonight (TTTC Chapter 1).
Optional supplemental support: if you have time, please select one of the quotes from chapter 1 on the attached worksheet. For the quote, analyze:
Today we are starting Tim O'Brien's The Things They Carried. We will be using a PDF version and reading select chapters each week. Today you will be taking brief notes on the novel, and then should start reading chapter 1: The Things They Carried.
