Today we had the Civil Rights Jigsaw (slides 13-14). Your 'new' mixed group will submit the one paragraph justification of who had the biggest impact by the end of the period.

Civil Rights Jigsaw (some documents to help)
Today we started our Civil Rights Unit. We took some brief notes (slides 1-4), talked about "Letter from a Birmingham Jail" (slide 5), and then read the poem "Ballad of Birmingham" by Dudley Randall (slides 6-8). If you were absent, you need to answer the questions on this worksheet for both "Letters from a Birmingham Jail" and "Ballad of Birmingham" for credit. I then assigned the jigsaw prep work/groups (slides 9-12). The prep work (on slide 11), will be due on Friday for the jigsaw.

Today we took our The Crucible multiple choice test and essay. Make-ups are Wednesday morning, in my office 2410K, starting at 9am. Homework (due Tuesday) read Martin Luther King, Jr.'s "Letter from a Birmingham Jail".
Lab day for the Junior Project! Rough drafts are due April 2nd on turnitin.com, and then you MUST bring a hard copy to class on Monday the 3rd. Don't forget: you have The Crucible test and essay on Monday, so make sure you finish your note card with 3 quotes for each prompt. Today we had a review and work period for the test and essay (Monday), and the creative project (due Tuesday). Format of the test/essay: you will take the 20 multiple choice question test, turn it in, then start the essay (which you can use a note card with 3 quotes for each prompt). Test is worth 20 points in culminating, essay is worth 20 points in culminating (grading using this rubric...but just getting a score for evidence and analysis).
