Today was a work day for the spring essay outline (due 10pm 5/6).
Today was book club 2! We shared what we read, and then worked on a social media page for one of the characters (see slide 18). Don't forget to work on your weekly log (7-8 sentences on your thoughts about the book. Not plot summary!). Your Protest Creative Project is due 4/4.
Today we read and analyzed the Ernest Hemingway story "Hills Like White Elephants". Please see the PowerPoint slides 2-9 for the discussion questions, and the follow-up article. Homework: The Glass Castle pages 3-72 and job sheet for book club Wednesday.
Today we looked at 60s culture with Postmodernism, hippies, Gonzo Journalism, Ken Kesey, and Andy Warhol. Today I introduced the Spring Literary Analysis Essay, and then it was a work period for the Protest Creative Project (slide 15, due 5/4). Homework: print a black and white picture of a celebrity of household product for Monday (think of a coloring book page).
Today we analyzed and discussed protest music (slides 1-20), and completed a group worksheet. Don't forget to finish your Protest Creative Project by Friday, 5/4!
Today we started our Book Club for The Glass Castle. I went through the unit requirements and information (slides 1-11), and then we did an icebreaker/identity activity (slides 11-18). You need to read to page 72 by 5/2. You can find all the job sheets under the Book Club Resources tab.

Today we read the Tim O'Brien short story "Ambush", and discussed as small groups and as a whole class (slides 9-12). Don't forget to finish your War Literature Jigsaw prep for tomorrow (directions can be found on the 4/20 post).
