Today I introduced the Minorities Socratic seminar assignment, focusing on the discussion questions you need to create. See slide 7 for the directions for the question creation. These are due by Monday, 11/7 at 10pm. The rest of the period was spent working on your Huck Finn rough drafts. These are due 11/8 at 10pm on turnitin.com, with a hard copy needed in class on 11/9. We will be peer editing these.

Today we shared our discussion questions and analyzed Bad Feminist. We then did a timed write on The Story of An Hour with our new lens on the role of women. If you were absent, please speak to me during class when you return so I can give you the prompt and assignment.
Today, we started the period with a reflection question from the discussion of The Yellow Wallpaper (slide 21). We then talked about The Story of an Hour. We answered group questions (slide 22), then discussed the story (slide 23). We then individually answered a reflection question going in a homework packet (slide 24). Homework is to read Roxane Gay's Bad Feminist essay, and create one discussion question for tomorrow (directions on slide 25).
Today we took a reading quiz on The Yellow Wallpaper (make-ups tomorrow morning in my office, 2410K). We then talked about the story, and analyze what the story was actually about (slides 15-19). Your table groups answered questions and then created a satirical cartoon representing the view of women (slides 15 and 18). Homework is to read The Story of An Hour.
