Today we had our war literature jigsaw, discussed the power of images in war, and created a Four Square (slides 13-14). I then introduced the Creative Project (slide 34). You will have a full work day Monday, and the project will be due May 10th.

Today I collected the Civil Rights Collage, and we started our War Literature unit (slides 1-2) by analyzing the Randall Jarrell poem "The Death of the Ball Turret Gunner" (slides 3-6). I then introduced the literature jigsaw we would be doing on Thursday. Your group selected stories, and must have them finished by Thursday (slides 7-8).

Today we discussed Alice Walker's "The Civil Rights Movement: What Good Was It?" essay, had work time/review time for the the Civil Rights Collage (slide 13) that is due April 29th and the in-class 11 sentence essay assessment (slides 23-26) that will happen April 26th.
Updated agenda: we had work time for the timeline or, if your group was done, you could read Alice Walker's "The Civil Rights Movement: What Good Was It?" essay. We will reflect tomorrow (no paragraph anymore).
Today we analyzed Alice Walker's "The Civil Rights Movement: What Good Was It?" essay (slides 21-22), and wrote a paragraph reflection. We worked on a Civil Rights Timeline to help us understand the long journey to civil rights. The group assignment is due Wednesday 4/24, and directions can be found on slide 20.

Today we had our "The Ballot or the Bullet" by Malcolm X or "I Have a Dream" by MLK debate (slides 17-18).
