Today we collected The Great Gatsby/Depression homework packets. We then reviewed for the final.
Homework packet:
Today we returned to the poety of Langston Hughes by looking at two of his poems. We are studying this as a way to transition out of the Great Depression and into To Kill a Mockingbird and racism in America. Make sure you complete the assignment sheet (will be going in our TKAM homework packet).
We worked on our own comic books (slide 10). These are due at the start of class on Friday.
LOOK...it's a bird! It's a plane! It's Superman!
Today we read the first Superman comic, and talked about the role of comics in the 1930s (you must answer the questions on slide 9 for the homework packet). We then started working on our own comic books (due Friday at the start of class). Today we continued our Great Depression unit by looking at the importance of film during the 30s. We took brief notes (slides 35-39), then did a table assignment creating a film that allows people to escape during the Depression (slide 40). Don't forget: submit vocab assignment 2 by 10pm tonight, and your Gatsby reflection by 1/10 at 10pm (both on turnitin.com).
Today we had our The Great Gatsby seminar (rescheduled due to my illness yesterday). You also participated in an online discussion board (slide 66).
