Today we looked at the Dr. Seuss tale The Sneetches as a way to think about Japanese Internment and segregation as a whole (slides 7-8). Don't forget to finish your Escapism Project for tomorrow.

Today we entered The Great Depression by taking brief notes on the culture (slides 1-10), then analyzed the music of Woody Guthrie (slides 22-24). No homework. Reminder: The Great Gatsby essay is due by 1/9 at 10pm on turnitin.com (no hard copy needed).
We analyzed the poetry of Langston Hughes: "Freedom Train" and "The Negro Speaks of Rivers". Reminder: your Harlem Renaissance creative assignment is due 1/8. I also gave you time to work on The Great Gatsby essay (NEW DUE DATE DUE TO POWER OUTAGES THIS WEEKEND: FRIDAY 1/11 BY 10PM).
