Today we recapped "America", and then analyzed confessional poetry (slides 33-40) as table groups/whole class. No homework.
Today we continued our analysis of beat poetry. We did a quick entry task discussion, then went to work modernizing the poem with a Woldy selected partner. These poems must be emailed to me before class tomorrow (directions on slides 25-31). Just one partner needs to email the modern poem AND the theme analysis (you can add this to the bottom of the poem).
Original "America" poem for you to modernize Today we finished our notes on the Beats (slides 4-19), and then started analyzing "America" as table groups (slides 23-24) and created an allusions 'cheat sheet'.
Today we finished and discussed Pleasantville, and then I started lecturing on the Beats (slides 4-19, note sheet here). Your homework due tomorrow: critically read Allen Ginsberg's "America" (slides 20-22) by defining any historical allusion underlined.
