Today we took the vocab quiz on lists 3-4 (make-ups on Wednesday in my office) and had chapter 18-19 presentations. I took both periods of the block so you could read about the Hatfields and McCoys. I gave you some brief notes (Notes on slides 30-35. Assignment directions on slide 36...just step 1 though) about the feud and how it relates to the Shepherdsons and Grangerfords in Huck Finn. Homework for Tuesday is to read chapters 20-25 in Huck Finn.
Huck Finn Chapter Presentations Today we had chapter 16-17 presentations. We then had a reading day for chapters 18-19 (you can DEFINITELY read ahead if you finish these chapters). Homework is to read chapters 18-19.
Huck Finn Chapter Presentations We had a reading quiz on chapters 14-15 (make-ups on Wednesday morning in my office), and chapter 14-15 presentations. I went over vocab lists 3-4 for the quiz on Thursday. We then talked about Modernism and how it relates to Huck Finn (see slides 38-49). Homework is to read chapters 16-17 in Huck Finn.
Huck Finn Chapter Presentations We had chapters 10-13 chapter presentations . The rest of the period was spent exploring the poetry of Walt Whitman (slides 24-29). You and your table group will analyze a specific poem, create a before and after metaphor, and selecting quotes as evidence. Optional homework: vocab 4 (quiz on THURSDAY). Required Homework is to read chapters 14-15 in Huck Finn.

Huck Finn chapter presentations Today I gave chapter presentations for chapters 1-5 (slides 3-9). We will begin student lead chapter presentations tomorrow for chapters 6-7. You and a group of 3 must sign up for at least one presentation for the unit. We then read and analyzed Mark Twain's Corn-Pone Opinions. See the Corn-Pone Opinions PP for the questions/discussion. If you were absent, you need to do the individual questions on slide 4 (these will go in the Huck Finn Homework Packet). Homework is to read chapters 6-7 in Huck Finn.
