Today we discussed the different genres, and I introduced your writing assignment, the Multiple Genres and Perspectives Story (slides 21-22). Reminder: Wednesday is a reading day, so make sure you have your novel in class.
Today I collected the multiple perspectives practice from Friday. We then started discussing multiple genres (slides 19-20). Groups of five divided up the different genres. Your task is to read your genre (select any story listed from that genre), and answer the questions on slide 20 for tomorrow. Reminder: Wednesday is a reading day, so make sure you have your novel in class.

We finished Pirates, had time to work on the character creation, and discussed the role of characters and setting in a story.
Today we took some brief notes on setting (slides 22-29), then started analyzing Pirates of the Caribbean focusing on the importance of character development and setting.

You will have time in class to work on these next week, so no need to finish them for homework. Don't forget: Self Story is due by 10pm on turnitin.com, on Sunday 9/16.

Today I introduced the novel/film reading assignment (fill in Google Sheet by Tuesday 9/11). We then continued to explore the idea of Creative Writing by starting our first story. You drew two cards from the game Apples to Apples, and had to write a one page story using the words. Directions can be found on slide 11. These stories are due tomorrow.
