Today we shared our genre stories, and discussed different genres. I then introduced the Multiple Genres/Perspective Story assignment (slides 21-23). We will have work time today and Friday.
Today was a reading day for the independent novel. These must be finished by May 1st!

Today I collected the multiple perspectives practice from yesterday. We then started discussing multiple genres (slides 19-20). Groups of five divided up the different genres. Your task is to read your genre (select any story listed from that genre), and answer the questions on slide 20 for Thursday. Tomorrow is an independent novel reading day, so bring your books!
Genre Stories: Horror: Humor: Realist RomanceSciFi Happy (snowy) Monday! Today we looked at point of view and multiple narratives (slides 1-15), watched The Three Little Pigs from the perspective of the wolf, and then worked on a practice assignment (slides 16-17). This practice assignment is due tomorrow.
We analyzed Pirates of the Caribbean for setting and character. Film analysis questions and character creation are both due Friday.
Quote tracking sheet (resource for your independent novel reading) Today we took brief notes on setting (slides 23-29), and then I introduced the film analysis assignment. We will be watching Pirates of the Caribbean to determine the importance of character and setting in plot development. You will complete an analysis sheet, and we will discuss on Friday.
Today we started The Novel Unit! We took some brief notes (slides 1-20), and then worked on a character creation assignment (slides 21-22). These are due Friday, February 16th.
We had work periods for the Self-Story (slides 6-7).
