Today we continued our work with multiple perspectives by looking at how genre can change a story. We talked about the different genres (slide 18), then I gave you your assignment (slide 19).

Today we finished Pirates of the Caribbean and discussed the importance of character and setting when developing a creative story. We then started talking about point of view and multiple genres. Please see slides 1-13 for notes, slide 14-15 for the example, and then slides 16-17 for your practice. No homework this weekend, unless you need to finish the in class practice.

Today we started our next unit, The Novel, by taking some brief notes on the history of the novel, themes, and characters. Your assignment was to turn yourself into a hero or villain. Please find the notes on slides 1-20, and the assignment on slides 21-22.

Today I gave you some tips for class (slides 4-6). We then 'played' Apples to Apples by drawing two cards and writing a one page story using the two words (slide 7). If you were absent, make sure you pick two cards when you get back tomorrow. This story does not need to be finished for homework as you will have some class time tomorrow to finish. Don't foget to bring the signed syllabus by next Friday!
