Poetry Packet Contents:
Today we went over the analysis for the Self and Society poems. You then wrote your own Self and Society poem (20 lines at least, directions on slide 35). Poems are due tomorrow. Tomorrow will be another work period for you to finish your essay, make-up any poems, and get your poetry packet together. Don't forget: Comparative Analysis essay is due Friday by 10pm!

Today we worked on analyzing the Poems of Self and Society (in your packet, and directions on slide 34). You only need to analyze one of the poems. Analysis is due tomorrow.

Today we worked on a Picture Poem (slides 31-33). You start by writing as much about a lanscape picture as you can. You then cross out all the empty/filler words (like, as, than, big, etc.). You then write a 20 WORD poem only using strong, descriptive words that describes something happening in the picture you selected. Finally, you expand to a 100 WORD poem, trying to only use strong words and using three literary devices. These are due tomorrow.

Happy May (and your last full month as a high schooler!). Today we had a work period. You could work on the Comparative Analysis essay or the Journey Poem (in your poetry packets, and on slides 27-30 for the examples). Journey poem is due at the start of class on Tuesday. Comparative Analysis essay is due between 5/1 and 5/5 just on turnitin.com. No hard copy needed.
